Rainbow Wahine basketball team stops Gonzaga

Pam Tambini contributed 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Brittany Grice added 18 points and 10 rebounds as Hawai'i defeated Gonzaga, 68-57, Sunday in the third place game of the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic.

The Rainbow Wahine (3-2) raced to a 14-point first-half lead against Gonzaga (5-3), and pushed their lead to as many as 20 in the final four minutes of the game.

Hawai'i Janevia Taylor just missed a statistical "double double" with 11 points, 9 assists, and 5 rebounds.

Stephanie Hawk led Gonzaga with 21 points. Former Punahou star Rachel Kane, and 2003 Hawai'i State Player of the Year, played 21 minutes for the Zags, and contributed 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
