High surf advisory in effect until 4 p.m.

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has issued a high-surf advisory for all east-facing shores on the Islands through 4 p.m. today.

The surf is due to a strong high-pressure system to the northeast of the state that is generating a northeast swell, the National Weather Service said.

The advisory means that waves along the affected shores will be higher than normal and that beach-goers should stay out of the water and be well away from the shore break.
