LAHAINA, Maui — A fire today caused $200,000 in damage to a Lahaina home and its contents.

The fire, reported at 11:35 a.m., burned two bedrooms of a three-bedroom, single-story home on Kahili Street in Lahaina town, said Battalion Chief Jeff Schaffer of the Maui Fire Department. Fire crews from Lahaina and Napili had the blaze under control in about 10 minutes, he said.

The home was being rented by a woman who will have to find somewhere else to live, Schaffer said. Damage to the structure was estimated at $175,000 and to the contents $25,000.
