Viloria boxing foe faces failed drug-test complaint

Advertiser Staff

Brian Viloria's unsuccessful attempt to regain the World Boxing Council light flyweight title from Omar Nino will be reviewed by the Nevada State athletic commission after a complaint was filed charging Nino with having failed a pre-bout drug test.

Nino retained the title with a draw of their 12-round bout Nov. 18 in Las Vegas.

Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada commission, said he filed the complaint based upon a report of methamphetamine in Nino's urine sample.

Kizer said the seven-member commission has scheduled a Dec. 5 hearing when Nino will likely receive a temporary suspension until the matter is addressed.

The commission could suspend and fine Nino and declare the fight a "no decision." Only the WBC could strip Nino of the title or order a rematch.
