It is countdown time for the 15th annual USAWeekend's Make a Difference Day program.

Oct. 28, the last Saturday in October, is the annual day for do-gooders and good doers — and it's less than a month away. That's the day when thousands of Hawai'i residents clean up the 'aina, help the needy and commit acts of kindness across the land.

Last year, millions of people participated across the country in the event, sponsored by the USA Weekend and Points of Light Foundation.

The online DAYtabank (which can be found on the Make a Difference Day Web site, www.makeadifferenceday.com) is filling up with projects on several islands, from student programs to cleanup days.

If you have an idea for a project, list yours there. If you want to help out with someone else's project, the Web site also serves as a clearinghouse for all the projects that will be seeking volunteers.

So mark your calendars and spread the karma.
