Now a Hawai'i resident, he travels to San Francisco's Castro Theatre for a 3-D retrospective of sci-fi and horror films Oct. 14-19. Chapman will reunite with co-star Julie Adams for a live interview by San Francisco Chronicle writer John Stanley. During an extended Island visit, TV anchor Ku'ualoha Taylor spent time with her pals at KGMB-9, including sports director Liz Chun and former producers Paul and Lisa Goto. Taylor, whose air name now is Aloha Taylor, just started in the 10 p.m. newscast slot on Fox 6 in San Diego. She was hired by Tauna Lange, ex-news director at KGMB. While here, Taylor and husband Greg showed off their first-born Taylor Aloha, 7 months old, and they caught up with local grinds, from Leonard's malasadas to plate lunches at 'Ono's and Kim Chee restaurants. ...

LOOKING AHEAD: Eddie Kamae makes yet another appearance when he and wife Myrna attend the screening of his 1988 documentary, "Li'a: The Legacy of a Hawaiian Man," his first, which will be the closing night attraction Oct. 11 at the 11th Pacific Rim Film Festival in Santa Cruz, Calif. Li'a was Sam Li'a Kalainaina, a one-time resident of the Big Island's Waipi'o Valley, who was "my teacher and good friend and mentor," said Kamae. James D. Houston, who wrote the script, is a Santa Cruz resident and will also be at the film fest. ...

Nakeu Awai's pre-holiday spectacle, "I Love a Piano! I Love a Piano!" is set for Dec. 2 at the Ko'olau Golf Club, a new venue for him. Two seatings are planned: a breakfast show at 8:30 a.m. ($38) and a luncheon show at 12:30 p.m. ($45). Entertainers will include Randy Hongo, Dell-fin Poaha, Aaron Sala and kid whiz pianist TJ Tario on the grand piano. A marketplace opens at 9:30 a.m. for holiday shoppers.
