Advertiser Staff

The state has been awarded a $14.2 million federal grant over the next five years to help the quality of mental health services throughout the state, Gov. Linda Lingle announced today.

Lingle said to implement the grant, she will convene the Governor's Mental Health Transformation Working Group to develop a Statewide Comprehensive Mental Health Plan.

The plan would transform the organization, delivery and financing of services for people with mental illness, the governor's office said.

The group will include executives from departments, agencies and others that serve the mentally ill and their families, the office said.

The group will also include mental health advocates and health insurance providers. The grant is from the Substance Abuse and Mental Services Administration.
