Medical problem may have contributed to crash

Advertiser Staff

A 43-year-old man was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition yesterday after his pickup truck collided with a flat bed truck on Queen Street about 1:20 p.m.

Police vehicular homicide investigators said it appears that the man lost control of his 1995 Chevrolet pickup and rear-ended the unoccupied flatbed truck near the Waikiki end of Queen Street just north of Ala Moana Boulevard.

Police do not believe that alcohol or speeding were factors in the case.

They said it appears that the driver suffered an undisclosed medical ailment just prior to the low-speed crash and that his condition was due to the medical problem and not the crash.
