Man comes home to stranger in his home

A Wahiawa man called police yesterday morning to report finding a stranger in his apartment after returning from work.

The man who filed the complaint said he secured his apartment before he left for work about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

He said a neighbor noticed a stranger in the apartment and notified him.

The apartment owner said he arrived home about 8 a.m. yesterday morning and called police. He said he later discovered the man had taken a shower, eaten his food and taken clean clothes while in the apartment.

Police arrested the intruder on suspicion of first-degree burglary.

Alleged robbers get away with wallet, jewelry

A 56-year-old Pearl City man told police he was robbed while standing on the lanai of his home yesterday evening.

The man said two other men, who appeared to be in their 30s, pulled handguns and ordered him to hand over his wallet and jewelry about 7 p.m.

He told police the two men ran away after he complied with the demands.

No arrests had been made in the case as of this morning.

Suspect arrested after taking wallet from sleeping man

A 45-year-old Moili'ili man was arrested yesterday as a suspect in a robbery reported by a 39-year-old man.

The younger man told police he was sleeping when he was awakened by someone trying to remove his wallet from his pants pocket.

The younger man said he got up and chased the man who took his wallet until the wallet snatcher drew a handgun, pointed it at him and threatened to shoot.

Responding police officers found a man who fit the description of the robber at the corner of North Nimitz Highway and Kekaulike Street about 4:30 p.m. and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree robbery.

Cashed forged check traced to halfway house resident

A 33-year-old Kailihi Valley man was arrested last night as a suspect in a check forgery case.

A 45-year-old man who is a resident of a half-way house told police he discovered a check from the house's account was missing.

The man told police he then called the bank where the account is located, learned that the check had been cashed and got the bank to provide him with a copy of the check. He said that when he got the facsimile of the check he noticed that it had been made out to the 33-year-old man who is also a resident of the half-way house.

Police were called and arrested the younger man at 11:50 p.m. on suspicion of second-degree forgery.

Boyfriend arrested for alleged abuse

A 23-year-old Kane'ohe man was arrested yesterday based on a domestic violence complaint filed earlier in the week by his 21-year-old girlfriend.

The girlfriend told police she was arguing with her boyfriend about 7 p.m. Sunday when he grabbed and choked her, causing her pain, dizziness and shortness of breath.

The boyfriend was located yesterday and arrested on suspicion of felony abuse of a household member when patrol officers went to serve a temporary restraining order on him.

Police arrest two after finding shotgun

Two men, ages 29 and 23, were arrested early yesterday after a police officer reported hearing a loud argument followed by a gunshot near the intersection of Kapiolani Boulevard and Pi'ikoi Street.

The officer was on a special duty assignment when he head the argument, saw a flash and heard what sounded like a gunshot coming from a passing truck, police said.

They said the truck went speeding off and that the officer followed it while requesting backup.

After the other officers arrived, the truck was pulled over and a shotgun was observed in the truck cab.

The two men in the truck were then arrested on suspicion of first-degree reckless endangering and failure to properly store a firearm .
