Two views on sending prisoners to Mainland

Asked whether sending prisoners out of state is the best policy on prisons, Lingle said she supports sending the most serious criminals to the Mainland, and to keep less serious offenders in community rehabilitation here.The policy saves money and no community in the state wants a prison, she said.
Iawase said we must build a prison in a remote area of the state, and that prisoners need family support. Families of prisoners don't have the money to visit inmates on Mainland, he said.
