Large surf expected later in week

East- and north-facing shores will be 2 to 4 feet through today, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu. Surf along south facing shores will be 1 to 3 feet through today and surf along west facing shores 1 to 2 feet.

The outlook through Friday: the first in a series of northwest swells is expected to arrive on Tuesday with additional reinforcement swells from the north and west likely arriving by Thursday, the weather service said. The largest waves are expected on Thursday and Friday. Surf heights may approach the advisory levels.
