As part of its exhibition "War/Peace" — and Kailua's Second Sunday Art Walk — The Balcony Gallery will host dancers Chandra Miars and Elizabeth Grote in a performance of "Remnants," a dance short evoking the grief and loss of war, at 4 p.m. today.

The work was created as a part of the exhibition at artist/ gallery owner Jodi Endicott's bequest.

The gallery also presents "Girl AWoL," a reading at 3:30 p.m. of the award-winning short play by Lisa and Melissa Cooper about a daughter's decision to join the Marines.

The performances are part of Kailua's Second Sunday Art Walk. The exhibition's artists include Sanit Khewhok, Marcia Morse, Deborah Nehmad and Paul Mullowney.

"We're interested in many forms of creative expression at the Balcony," said owner Linda von Geldern. "Dance performances, along with poetry readings, films, artist talks as well as visual arts add to a richer experience.

"For this show, the dancers and the 16 artists of the 'War/Peace' show feel very strongly that war is not the only way to resolve conflict. The human price is not justified."
