Flash flood watch issued for Kaua'i

Advertiser Staff

A flash flood watch is in effect for Kaua'i and Ni'ihau for the rest of the day.

A weather front will continue to move toward our island chain this morning.

A band of potentially heavy showers stretching from the northeast to the southwest has begun moving over Kaua'i from the west.

According to estimates based on radar images, the showers could dump as much as two to three inches of rain per hour on parts of Kaua'i.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for mostly sunny skies over the rest of the islands which will give way to clouds and showers this afternoon, mainly over slopes and interior sections.

We can expect clearing skies tonight over most islands except for O'ahu and Kaua'i.

And, yes, the delightfully muggy weather will hang around for a while, forecasters said. At about 5 a.m. today, the relative humidity at Honolulu International Airport was 88 percent
