The 27-member Bishop Museum board of directors — more than half of which is composed now of Native Hawaiians — has announced its 2007 officers: chairman, David C. Hulihe'e; co-vice-chairs, Dr. Charman J. Akina and S. Haunani Apoliona, and secretary, Watters Martin. Additionally, two new members — Jeanne Anderson and Bill Morris — have joined the board. With nearly 400,000 visitors annually, the museum is one of Hawai'i's top tourist destinations.

  • ALAIN GRUBER, recently named NCL America corporate chef, will oversee the introduction of new menus aboard the Hawai'i-based Pride of Hawai'i, Pride of America and Pride of Aloha. Gruber has more than 16 years of culinary experience, including at European boutique hotels, Ritz Carlton properties and other cruise lines, including Seabourn, Cunard and Royal Viking lines. NCL also announced the hiring of three additional corporate chefs: WARREN PEARSON, JAMES WIERZELEWSKI and CHRISTOPHE LE CRAS.

  • Finance Factors has promoted BENSON CHOO to vice president and information protection manager. He has served in the information protection manager capacity (Information Security Department), overseeing security risks and developing strategies to keep Finance Factors current on security managers.

  • The Hawaii TeleCommunications Association has announced its board of directors, serving through 2007: president, Michael Brown, Hawaiian Telcom; vice president - programs, Millie Perreira-Gilmore, Time Warner Telecom, and Moune Romano, Hawaiian Telcom; secretary, Shelby Ogasawara, Time Warner Telecom; treasurer, Leslie Morishige, Hilton Hawaiian Village; communications director, Ann Nishida, Hawaiian Telcom; membership director, Russell Au, Pacific LightNet; conference chair/director, Derek Kato, Actus Lend Lease; Web master/director, Burt Lum, Hawaiian Telcom; chair/past president, Dolly Samson, Hawai'i Pacific University.

  • KENNETH KRETZER and DENEEN M. NAKASHIMA have been named senior tax managers at the Honolulu office of Grant Thornton LLP. Kretzer was most recently director of taxes for Jacuzzi Inc. in California. Nakashima is a 12-year veteran in the Honolulu office.

  • ANGELA RODRIGUEZ has been named regional communications coordinator for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Hawaii, charged with assisting in the coordination of regional public relations, advertising and promotional efforts for the 11 Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Hawai'i. These include the Sheraton, Westin, W Hotels and Luxury Collection brands, as well as four Tahiti properties. Before joining Starwood, she was a loan officer for Countrywide Home Loans Hawai'i, California and Utah division.

  • Cox Radio has named MICHOL KLA BO general sales manager of KCCN FM100. Most recently, she was in the same position with Salem Media of Hawai'i.
