After holiday, commuters rediscover traffic grind

Advertiser Staff

It's back to work for a lot of folks who were off yesterday celebrating Discoverers' Day, and its back to the normal bump and grind in terms of the morning town-bound traffic.

The drive in on the H-1 Freeway from Leeward O'ahu begins to slow at the Waikele Shopping Center. Traffic is slow through the H-1/H-2 merge and the congestion continues until past the Waimalu on-ramps.

Traffic picks up again through 'Aiea and flows well on the airport viaduct, but slows to bumper-to-bumper through the Middle Street merge. It's slow going through Kalihi and Liliha but the pace picks up a bit after the Kinau Street exit.

The drive in from Hawaii Kai is going fairly well at this time although traffic slows considerably at the Old Waialae Road overpass.

There are no significant problems at this time heading in from Windward O'ahu.
