Chun leads by 6 shots in golf invitational

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i's Mari Chun, a sophomore at Stanford, takes a six-shot lead into Wednesday's final round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, at Sammamish, Wash.

Chun, a Kamehameha Schools graduate, took a one-shot lead with a 4-under-par 68 in Monday's first round at Sahalee Country Club. The score tied her career best.

She extended her advantage to six with a 72 Tuesday, with New Mexico's Jodi Ewart (75-146) moving into second.

Arizona sophomore Amanda Wilson, a Waiakea graduate, is tied for 20th at 75-154.

Stanford also leads the team competition by a shot over New Mexico.

Chun had two top-10 finishes as a freshman and was 11th at the 2006 Pac-10 Championship. She has won all three of the Hawai'i women's majors, capturing the match play in 2004 and the stroke play and Jennie K. last year.
