Bess, Brennan ranked near top in national statistics

Hawai'i receiver Davone Bess ranks No. 1 and quarterback Colt Brennan No. 2 in national statistics.

Bess, a sophomore slotback, leads in receptions with 8.2 per game. Brennan, a junior quarterback, averages 372.4 yards per game in total offense.

New Mexico State quarterback Chase Holbrook leads in total offense with 395.8 yards per game.

Holbrook has thrown for 2,053 yards and 16 TDs in five games. Brennan has thrown for 1,862 yards and 18 TDs in five games.

UH and New Mexico State, who meet Oct. 21, rank 1-2 in the nation in passing offense. NMSU is averaging 422.0 yards per game while UH is averaging 411.0.
