1908: The Kahuku wireless station sends its first radio message to San Francisco. The Advertiser noted it was the first time a message had been sent to the Mainland, although messages from the Mainland had been received previously. In addition, the Kahuku station reported getting fragmentary messages from ships at sea.

1947: The Advertiser reports that the first jet airplane to be based in the Islands will arrive shortly aboard the aircraft carrier Valley Forge. The Navy's FR-1 was being brought here to familiarize Pacific fleet pilots with jet aircraft.

1950: The Advertiser reports that election results from the territory's first closed primary left politicians puzzled. It was the first time primary voters could not cross over and vote for candidates in more than one party.

1955: Fire destroys the social hall of Parker Memorial Methodist Church next door to the Kane'ohe fire station.
