State snuffs out flavored cigarette sales

Advertiser Staff

R.J. Reynolds has agreed to end its sale of flavored cigarettes in Hawai'i and 38 other states.

Attorney General Mark Bennett announced today that the tobacco company that makes Camel, Kool and Salem cigarettes agreed to a U.S. ban of all candy, fruit and alcohol flavored cigarettes.

The agreement also includes marketing restrictions that will make it nearly impossible for the company to market flavored cigarettes to youth in the future.
