Children taken by birth father found on Big Island

Advertiser Staff

HILO, Hawai'i — Big Island police have found two children reported missing after a visit with their birth father, who arrested on suspicion of custodial interference.

Lebrado Cabanting Jr., 36, is being held at the Hilo police cellblock while police continue their investigation. Police found Cabanting and the two boys, aged 10 and 12, at 11:30 a.m. today in the Orchidland Estates subdivision in Puna. The children were in good health, police said. The boys' mother reported that she dropped her sons off with their father Saturday morning, but that he didn't return them at a pre-arranged time later that evening.
