Woman indicted in step-daughter's 2005 death

Advertiser Staff

A federal grand jury today indicted Delilah S. Williams in the death of her 5-year-old step-daughter, Talia, in July 2005.

Williams is charged with first-degree murder for perpetuating a "pattern and practice of assault and torture" against a child, as well as assault with a dangerous weapon and obstruction of justice.

Talia Williams died July 16 of "inflicted head trauma due to battered child syndrome," according to the Honolulu Medical Examiner's office.

Naeem Williams, the girl's father, was indicted in February in connection with the girl's death. The U.S. attorney's office is seeking the death penalty against him.
