Diabetics get $7.9 million in grants

The state Department of Human Services has received a three-year, $7.9 million federal grant to help adults with diabetes maintain their health to continue working 40 hours or more per month.The Hawai'i Demonstration to Maintain Independence and Employment project is aimed at 18- to 60-year-old residents with potentially disabling forms of diabetes to try and prevent or delay the loss of self-sufficiency.
The total cost of the project is $14.1 million.
