Leilehua teacher to be in federal court at 3:30 today

Advertiser Staff

A 29-year-old Leilehua High School teacher is scheduled to appear in federal court this afternoon on a request by federal prosecutors to hold him without bail on his charges that he sold about 15 ounces of crystal methamphetamine to an undercover officer.

Lee N. Anzai has been in custody since his arrest Tuesday night on charges that he sold the drug on five occasions in parking lots away from the high school campus for $44,500.

Federal prosecutors filed a request to continue holding him without bail, saying he's a risk to flee and a danger to the community.

Anzai's lawyer is opposing the motion.

The hearing on the request before U. S. Magistrate Judge Kevin Chang is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
