Residents asked to conserve water

Advertiser Staff

Residents in Makakilo had no water this morning as a result of a water main break caused by the early-morning earthquake.

Su Chin, spokeswoman for the Board of Water Supply, also reported a water main break in Kuli'ou'ou, but she said customers there were not affected.

Chin said water service for most residents on O'ahu was not affected.

But Chin asked customers to conserve water, since the city's reservoirs rely on electrical pumps to bring up water from its wells. Once those reservoirs are empty, the Board of Water Supply will only be able to refill the reservoirs that are equipped with generators.
