Air travelers urged to call and confirm reservations

Advertiser Staff

It is back to business as usual at Honolulu International Airport this morning, said state Department of Transportation Spokesman Scott Ishikawa.

He said he passenger flow is slightly greater than normal, especially at the inter-island terminal, as travelers who were urged yesterday not to show up at the airport due to an island-wide power outage were attempting to complete their travel plans today.

"We're asking anybody who put off traveling yesterday to call the airlines and try to confirm a reservation for a flight today so they don't wind up coming to the airport with no confirmed seat for them," Ishikawa said.

He said the inter-island terminals are usually busiest earlier in the day and that crunch time for mainland and foreign flights will come a bit later this morning.

Ishikawa said some passengers scheduled to depart today may be showing up a bit earlier, and adding the heavier than usual flow, as a result of the confusion and delays yesterday.
