Big orchid show starts Friday

"The Great Hawaiian Orchid Show" will feature displays, seminars, demonstration and hula performances.
And, of course, there will be orchids of in a mind-boggling array of sizes, colors and fragrances.
Matthew Goo, a U.S. Department of Agriculture "plant doctor," will be on-hand to answer questions about agriculture. Orchid owners can even bring in their sick plants to be looked at by USDA experts.
Cost is $3. Children 12 and under are free.
The show runs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22.
