Derek Paiva

Want to see more than a brief set by Pearl Jam when it opens for U2 at Aloha Stadium in December? Eddie Vedder and the rest of the veteran rock band will do a full show on Dec. 2 at Blaisdell Arena, a week before the U2 gig.

The band is currently touring behind its critically acclaimed 2006 return-to-form disc "Pearl Jam."

The tour finale will be Pearl Jam's first Hawai'i show since 1998. Southern-fried alt rockers Kings of Leon will open the 8 p.m. show.

Tickets will go on sale Sat., Oct. 21 at 9 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets, at www.ticketmaster.com and at 877-750-4400. Ticket prices start at $53. A $2 donation to Pearl Jam's Vitalogy Foundation will also be charged to each ticket. Half of the donation will go to the ocean-based after-school activities program Hui Malama i ke Kai Foundation in the name of "Boom" and Pinky Gaspar. Waimanalo-native Kenneth "Boom" Gaspar has played keyboards for Pearl Jam since 2002.
