Salvation Army offers assistance to quake victims

The Salvation Army will supply basic assistance such as food, clothing and shelter, to people affected by the Sunday's earthquake. Resident should contact the Salvation Army Family Services offices: O'ahu: 420 Waiakamilo Rd., phone 845-2544. Big Island: 75-223 Kalani St., Kailua-Kona, phone 326-2330. Maui: 45 W. Kamehameha Ave., Kahului, phone 877-6757. To assist earthquake victims, donations can be made by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY. The Salvation Army activated its emergency response network across the state in response to the 6.6 magnitude earthquake Sunday morning. More than 3,000 meals, including sandwiches, water, candy bars and coffee were distributed to travelers stranded at the Honolulu International Airport, according to a Salvation Army press release. The Salvation Army staff is assessing the extant of the damage and the needs created by the earthquake particularly on O'ahu, the Big Island and Maui.
