Stormfront slowly moving out to sea

Advertiser Staff

The widespread heavy rain showers that fell over portions of the Big Island have begun to diminish and the moderate to locally heavy rainfall now occurring should be tapering off as the stormfront that brought the stormy weather moves toward the east and out over the ocean, according to the National Weather Service.

A weaker, secondary front near O'ahu will bring scattered showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms to O'ahu and Maui County this morning, forecasters said.

The pattern of light winds and interior afternoon clouds and showers will likely continue through the rest of the week and possibly into the weekend, according to the forecast.

Here's a detailed look at the next few days:

Today, partly cloudy. On Kaua'i, isolated showers in the morning, then scattered showers in the afternoon. O'ahu and Maui County, scattered showers through the day. A slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning. Locally heavy rainfall possible. Highs 83 to 88. Variable winds to 15 mph.

Tonight, partly cloudy. Isolated showers on Kauai. Scattered showers O'ahu and Maui County. Lows 75 to 80. Variable winds to 15 mph.

Wednesday, partly cloudy. Scattered showers. Highs 83 to 88. Lows 73 to 78. Variable winds 5 to 15 mph.

Thursday, partly cloudy. Scattered showers. Highs 83 to 88. Lows 73 to 78. Variable winds 5 to 15 mph.
