Maui police ID woman found floating in stream

WAILUKU, Maui — Maui police today identified a woman whose body was found Thursday floating in a stream near Ulalena Loop in Ha'iku as Petra Evers, 45. Evers had no permanent address and was camping in the Pauwela area, said Lt. Glenn Cuomo of the Maui Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division. Her body had been in the stream several days before it was discovered. An autopsy performed Friday did not provide an immediate cause of death, and police have not ruled out foul play, Cuomo said. He asked anyone with information on Evers to call detectives at (808) 244-6425.
