Seminar set Nov. 10 for businesses wanting to export

Advertiser Staff

The Hawai'i Pacific Export Council will hold a seminar Nov. 10 to provide advice to local companies that plan to export their goods to Asia.

The "Exporting Boot Camp" is designed to help businesses develop a plan on how to begin exporting. The topics will include targeting market selection, setting objectives, building a market strategy, and working with representatives and buyers after a sale.

Among the consultants will be Steve Craven of Kekepana International Services and a former U.S. Commercial Service officer, and Chuck Steilen, marketing professor at Hawai'i Pacific University and Chinese University of Hong Kong. Bank of Hawaii economist Paul Brewbaker will begin the program with an overview of exporting, and entrepreneur Peter Kay will discuss his software exporting experience.

The Boot Camp will be held from 8:30-4 p.m. Nov. 10 at Kapi'olani Community College. The fee is $75 and the deadline to register is Nov. 1. For information, call 737-1904.
