The Hawaii Book & Music Fair is planning its 2007 event, and has announced its headliners.

Among the major literary figures appearing: novelist Gail Tsukiyama (author of "The Samurai's Garden, "The Language of Threads," and "Dreaming Water"), whose last public appearance in Hawai'i was at a sold-out Honolulu Advertiser Book Club event, acclaimed writer Maxine Hong Kingston (who is returning for the second year) and Korean American children's book author Linda Sue Park, winner of the 2002 Newbery Medal for "A Single Shard."

Executive director Roger Jellinek said the second annual fair, which celebrates both print and music, will take place May 19 and 20, 2007, on the campus of Honolulu Hale.

The first Hawaii Book & Music Fair, held in April, featured 50 authors and musicians in 100 events in nine simultaneous venues.

Looking ahead to the 2008 Hawaii Book & Music Fair, the event will host bestselling writers Elizabeth George and Terry Brooks, Jellinek said.
