Hawaiian Electric Co. to brief PUC today on blackout

The state Public Utilities Commission is scheduled to meet with Hawaiian Electric Co. officials at 2 p.m. today to discuss Sunday's power outage.HECO officials are expected to provide an update on the impact of the power failure and will discuss some of its potential causes.
Sunday's outage, triggered by twin Big Island earthquakes with magnitudes of 6.7 and 6.0, left 291,000 O'ahu customers without power for most of the day.
