Today the Hawaii International Film Festival announced that its 2006 Kodak Vision Award for Excellence in Cinematography will be given to Matthew Libatique.

Libatique has served as director of cinematography on such films as "Requiem for a Dream," "Phone Booth" and "Inside Man."

The festival presents this recognition annually to a cinematographer who has made significant contributions to advancing the art of filmmaking in the Pacific Rim. The presentation will be made during the festival's awards ceremony here on October 26 at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.

While in Honolulu, Libatique will also hold a free seminar on the multiple roles that cinematographers play in filmmaking. The seminar will include a screening of "Everything Is Illuminated," and will be held at the Regal Dole Cannery Stadium 18 Theatres at 5 p.m. on Oct. 25.
