Flash flood warning in place on Moloka'i

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Moloka'i that is expected to remain in effect until 6:45 p.m.

The warning was issued six minutes after radar showed heavy rain over northeast Moloka'i at 3:44 p.m. The rain is moving slowly east and the warning includes Halawa Valley County Park, Pukoo and Highway 450.

A flash flood watch will remain in effect through Sunday morning for the rest of the islands and a high surf advisory for all south-facing shores will remain in place until 4 p.m. tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service.

Skies over the state will be mostly cloudy, with scattered showers on Kaua'i tonight. Rain is expected for the other islands and so are isolated thunderstorms. Locally heavy rains are possible, the weather service said.
