Hilton workers likely to approve new contract today

Unionized employees at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa are expected to ratify a new, four-year contract today.

Workers are voting at the Hilton throughout the day on the contract, which would cover more than 1,500 employees. The contract includes wage increases of $2.40 an hour over four years for non-tipped workers, and $1.20 an hour increases for tipped workers over the same period. The contract also includes increases in company contributions to employees' health and welfare and pension funds.

Workers at the Sheraton hotels in Waikiki ratified on Wednesday a four-year contract that has the same wage increases, which are the highest raises the workers have received in more than 15 years.
