Songbird Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom kicks off the Hawai'i Theatre's annual Hana Hou! Hawaiian Music Series with a concert titled "Generation Hawai'i" (also the title of her recently released CD). Keli'i Kaneali'i, an original member of the duo Hapa, is her special guest. Other concerts in the series: Holunape in a tribute to Lena Machado, Jan. 26; various artists in "Be Steel My Heart," Feb. 16; The Brothers Cazimero, March 9; The Makaha Sons, April 27; and various artists in "Hawai'i Calls," May 25.

Calling all bridezillas: Wedding professionals are ready to help at Hawaii World Class Wedding Expo, locally produced for Hawai'i's brides. Laurie Anderson returns with a multimedia show on a smaller scale (but no less avante garde) in "The End of the Moon." Developed during her gig as NASA's so-far only artist-in-residence, Anderson blends imagery, music and storytelling. She last performed on O'ahu in 2002.

La Pietra's annual Children's Fair themed "Around the World," is a passport to fun for the little ones. There's King Tut's Treasure (kids dig for prizes) and the Tiki Toss (throw a hula hoop over an inflated tiki or palm tree). Pony rides, a petting zoo, mini golf, games, interactive arts and crafts and food booths are all part of the attraction, too. The fair, a benefit for the school, is aimed for kids 2 to 12. There's a free shuttle from and to Kapi'olani Community College.

A boxing match becomes a game of musical chairs, a tennis ball has a mind of its own and surfing may never be the same — they're all part of the Honolulu Theatre for Youth production "Sport," which pokes fun at everything from competition to commercialization of the games we love to play. "Sport" is adapted by HTY artistic director Eric Johnson from "Slastic," originated by the Spanish comedy troupe El Tricicle. It features a cast of BullDog, Reb Beau Allen and Alvin Chan.

"Makana I Na Mele: The Gift of Music," featuring the Youth Symphony I and multiple Na Hoku Hanohano award-winning group Maunalua, is the annual benefit concert for the Honolulu Youth Symphony. Maestro Henry Miyamura conducts. There's also a silent auction and lu'au-style buffet dinner.

The monologue drama "Thom Pain (based on nothing)" will make its Hawai'i premiere as part of the University of Hawai'i-Manoa's Department of Theatre and Dance's Late Night series. Will Eno's Pulitzer Prize-nominated surreal piece, about promises and existence, stars Peter Ruocco. Ruocco also will perform his short monologue "Conviction," about a possible suicide bomber/performer.

That really angry guy, Lewis Black, returns with his brand of really angry, but comic, political and social commentary. Black, who made a really angry name for himself in appearances on "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart," was last here in November 2005. He also appears in the recently released film "Man of the Year," starring Robin Williams as a Jon Stewart-like character. John Bowman is the opening act.
