North Shore swell moderately large

Advertiser Staff

The late-season south swell is on the way down today, but the waves on the North Shore should remain moderately large through the weekend, the National Weather says.

On the south shores of all Hawai`i islands, a high surf advisory remains in effect, but could be canceled by this afternoon. Waves through Sunday are expected to be in the 2- to 4-foot range. However, another south swell could arrive Tuesday and last into Wednesday, the Weather Service said.

Meanwhile, on the north-facing shores, waves are expected to be in the 8- to 12-foot range today, dropping to 6- to 8 feet by tomorrow.

West facing shores today are experiencing surf in the 6- to 8-foot range, dropping to 3 to 6- foot tomorrow.
