Kamehameha tops 'Iolani, gets state volleyball berth

Kanani Herring had 12 kills, three blocks and one ace and Bekah Torres added 10 kills today to help Kamehameha defeat 'Iolani 25-23, 21-25, 25-22 for the Interscholastic League of Honolulu's girls volleyball first-round championship and automatic state tournament berth.

Leinani Keanini had a match-high 13 kills and Lauren Minkel added 12 kills for 'Iolani, which will play at Punahou at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the ILH postseason tournament semifinals. Kamehameha will play host to Hawai'i Baptist in the other semifinal, also set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

If Kamehameha wins the tournament, it will be crowned ILH champion. Otherwise, it will play the tournament winner for the overall title.
