Kaua'i drowning victim identified

Advertiser Staff

Officials with the Kaua'i Fire Department today released the name of the man who was found floating face down at Keālia Beach yesterday afternoon, and pronounced dead at Wilcox Hospital.

He was identified as Steven Rosenstein, age 61 of Coral Springs, Florida.

The victim's wife informed lifeguards that he was no longer swimming in the area where he had been and she was concerned about his safety.

When the lifeguards swam out, they found Rosenstein face down about 10 yards from the surf break.

After bringing him to shore, the lifeguards performed CPR until fire rescue specialists and medics arrived. Resuscitation efforts continued as Rosenstein was taken to the hospital.
