UH's Brennan No. 1 in nation in passing

University of Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan is ranked No. 1 in passing, according to statistics released today.

Brennan, who has completed 73 percent of his passes (199 of 273) despite having many dropped, has a rating of 183.1.

Pittsburgh's Tyler Palko is ranked No. 2 at 1803. Troy Smith of No. 1-ranked Ohio State is ranked No. 4 at 176.4.

Brennan has 2,601 yards and 28 touchdowns with just five interceptions.

Saturday, Brennan completed 22 of 31 for 330 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-30 win over New Mexico State. It was UH's fourth victory in a row. UH plays host to Idaho Saturday at Aloha Stadium.

Brennan also is ranked No. 2 in total offense behind Chase Holbrook of New Mexico State.

Holbrook is averaging 401.3 yards per game to Brennan's 390.3.

In receiving, UH's Davone Bess is ranked No. 2 in receiving with 7.6 receptions per game.

Mike Walker, who had 13 receptions for 169 yards against Rice, is No. 1 at 7.7.

Bess had four receptions against New Mexico State Saturday.
