Society of Seven to be honored in Las Vegas

By Catherine E. Toth
Advertiser Staff Writer

The Hawai'i-rooted Society of Seven will be inaugurated into the Las Vegas Walk of Stars Nov. 28 at the Flamingo Las Vegas Showroom, where the group now performs.

The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann is expected to attend.

SOS, which played for more than three decades in Waikiki, has been praised for its lavish production numbers that range from blues to comedy.

The group will be commemorated on a three-foot square slab of polished granite that will be placed in front of the Flamingo Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Walk of Stars has honored the city's big headliners such as Wayne Newton, Liberace and those magic men Siegfried & Roy.

Others scheduled to be honored in the near future are Sammy Davis, Jr., and Bobby Darin.
