B.I. police seek help in HELCO robbery

Big Island police want the public's help in finding the man who entered the Kilauea Avenue office of Hawaii Electric Light Co. in Hilo on Friday with a handgun, demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Witnesses described the suspect as being in his mid-30s, about 5-feet 9-inches tall, 190 pounds, with a large/husky build, a medium-to-dark tan complexion, short black hair and possibly a moustache. He was last seen fleeing on foot in a westerly direction while wearing a light colored baseball cap, dark sunglasses, dark colored jacket, T-shirt and pants.

Police ask anyone with information to call Det. Lucille Melemai at 961-2377 or the police non-emergency number at 935-3311.
