Paraglider who died Saturday identified

Advertiser Staff

A paraglider who died Saturday at Makapuu was identifed as Johan Hakansson, 38, of Honolulu, the Office of the Honolulu Medical Examiner said today.

Hakansson was flying Saturday morning when witnesses said he started to swing from side to side beneath his paraglider canopy about 10 a.m. He flew into power lines and then crashed onto the ridge. Witnesses said they saw a blue flash.

Hakansson was taken to The Queen's Medical Center where he died.

The medical examiner has not determined a cause of death.
