Elderly woman killed in house fire identified

The elderly victim of a deadly house fire in Kuliouou last week was identified as Masae Kiyota, 81, the Office of the Honolulu Medical Examiner said today. The cause of death was smoke inhalation and thermal burns. Kiyota died after the house she shared with her sister caught fire about 7:41 p.m. Oct. 15.They lived in a home at the end of a narrow lane of homes at 254 Kuliouou Road. Neighbors rescued Kiyota's younger sister. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
