MARINA JONES, former general manager of Honolulu's Cheeseburger in Paradise, has joined the Waikiki Prince Kuhio Hotel as director of restaurant operations. Her past experience has included positions with Kincaid's Fish Chop and Steak House, Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort and Spa, Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel, Hyatt Regency and Hilton Kaua'i Beach Villas. Also, PEDRO J. RIVERA ROSA, a former private chef for movie director Steven Spielberg, has been named the hotel chef de cuisine. He was most recently executive chef at Chai's Island Bistro. Joining Prince Kuhio's sales teams are new sales managers NAILE "NYLA" BRENNAN and RICHARD S. MAU. The hotel is undergoing extensive renovations and will open later this year under a Hilton Hotels branding.
LEEANN ISOBE has been named marketing and operations manager for Aqua Hotels and Resorts. The hotel chain recently announced the addition of the Island Colony hotel to its expanding Waikiki inventory, the fifth hotel acquired by Aqua this year. In her new position, Isobe will oversee advertising, supervise media schedules and budgets, provide daily maintenance of the company's Web site, and manage the firm's image library and employee relations. Before joining Aqua, Isobe was senior account executive at CP Advertising. She also has held supervisory and management positions with AdWorks, Marc Resorts and Aston Hotels and Resorts.
Peter Selvig has been named office manager of the Navy League of the United States, Honolulu Council. He is a more than 13-year veteran of nonprofit organization work, including St. Andrew's Priory School for Girls and the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Former O'ahu resident LAURIE CHRISTENSEN has been named incoming president of the Memphis (Tenn.) Association for Women Attorneys.
The Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art has named Islamic art expert Amy Landau curator of Shangri La, philanthropist Doris Duke's five-acre seasonal Honolulu estate, which, since 2002, has showcased a collection with more than 2,500 pieces. Effective Nov. 27, the job calls for research, interpretation and display of the collection, as well as development of an interdisciplinary program designed to enhance the facility's role in education, scholarly research and exchange (including exhibitions, residencies for artists and scholars, symposia and a publications series). The estate combines Islamic architecture with Hawaiian landscape and gardens. Currently conducting research in Armenia, she was previously a research assistant to the chief curator at The Smithsonian's Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery.
Guam native RONALD VILORIA has been promoted from pastry chef to executive chef at Tiki's Grill and Bar, expanding his responsibilities to include overall food preparation, menu planning, hiring and training. The award-winning Viloria began his career at the Guam Hilton, including training in Japan, Korea and Taipei, and also had served as pastry instructor at Guam Community College.
MW Group LTD, a property developer and manager with properties on O'ahu and Maui, has promoted RAYNARD L. MARQUINA to property manager of the Pioneer Plaza downtown office tower. He will oversee management, daily operations, tenant relations, budget preparation, and oversight of engineering, janitorial and security contractors. Marquina began with MW Group in 2001 as a contractor, and was hired later as an employee. Also promoted by the company was BRANDON METTER, new facility manager for all MW O'ahu properties, including Pioneer Plaza, Nimitz Center and 'Aiea Town Square. He is a former MW facility manager for Pioneer Plaza.
