3-year-old hurt in fall at Manoa trail

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu Fire rescue specialists brought out a 3-year-old boy who was injured in a fall yesterday afternoon while hiking with his family to Manoa Falls.

The boy cut his head but his family declined treatment from Emergency Medical Services personnel when the boy was brought out from the trail at about 6 p.m., Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig said.

The trail was muddy, and the family didn't have a cell phone but were able to borrow one to call for help.

"The trail conditions at this time of year are not suited for young children," Seelig said. "People need to know their limits and the trail conditions before going on a hike like this."
