The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office yesterday identified the man who died Saturday after jumping about 25 feet off rocks at Kapena Falls in Nu'uanu as Robert Andaluz, 20, of Kane'ohe. Cause and manner of death were not listed.

ELECTROCUTION KILLED PARAGLIDER

A 38-year-old man killed while paragliding Saturday at Makapu'u died from electrocution and blunt-force injuries, according to autopsy findings.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office identified the man as Johan Hakansson of a downtown Honolulu address. The death has been ruled an accident.

According to Alex Colby, president of the Hawai'i Paragliding Association, witnesses said Hakansson had a good launch, but for unknown reasons began swinging side to side. The paraglider came in contact with power lines before hitting the ridge top, Colby said.

Hakansson was pronounced dead at The Queen's Medical Center.

COMMITTEE ENDORSES LINGLE

Gov. Linda Lingle and Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona were endorsed yesterday by the Hawai'i Medical Association Political Action Committee.

The committee praised the Lingle administration for its work on thimerosal vaccines and prompt-payment bills, and its support for medical malpractice reform.

"They have shown tremendous concern for the health of our citizens and have always been very accessible and amenable to our concerns," said John McDonnell, the committee's chairman.
