Marines hiking through Kailua tonight

Beginning at 6 p.m. today, approximately 1,000 Kane'ohe Bay Marines with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment will hike through the local community to Kalaheo High School and continue on to Le Jardin Academy.They will return to base after reaching Le Jardin.
The hike is part of the Marines' preparation for a spring deployment to western Iraq.
The Marine Corps base said hikes "promote combat readiness and are essential training requirements."
