State okays 10% increase in tour bus rates

Tour bus rides will cost a little more next year.The state Public Utilities Commission this summer approved a 10 percent increase in motorcoach rates effective Jan. 1, the Western Motor Tariff Bureau announced Wednesday. The bureau, the organization that files for rate changes for its motor carrier members, said member tour bus companies requested the increase, which would help cover higher fuel costs, wages, insurance premiums and other costs.
Companies covered under the increase include Polynesian Adventure, Polynesian Hospitality, Roberts Hawaii, Trans Quality Inc., Travel Plaza Transportation and VIP Transportation.
